Cannabidiol, Oral Health, & Natural Wellness: CBD Research in 2021

As we near the end of 2021, it's important to take a step back and absorb all the newly available information regarding cannabidiol (CBD) and hemp-derived wellness. Here at OraBliss we value science, transparency and education when it comes to knowing everything there is to know about how CBD interacts with our bodies and helps to make our oral health care experience more effective.

If you've been tuned in to our blog series, we've been covering such diverse but pertinent topics as nano technology, the magic of Aloe vera in dental health, and much more.

Ongoing CBD research is vital in order to really understand this game changing compound and all of its possibilities — and with more opportunities to conduct said research — the 21st century is sure to bring more intriguing information. Let's talk cannabidiol research in 2021.

Real-World Evidence Regarding the Effectiveness of CBD

Firstly, in a study recently published in the Journal of Cannabis Research, the objective was to quantify the impact of CBD-rich treatment on patients with a wide spectrum of symptoms, looked at through the lens of a specific symptom assessment scale:

This retrospective observational study suggests CBD-rich treatment has a beneficial impact on pain, anxiety, and depression symptoms as well as overall wellbeing only for patients with moderate to severe symptoms; however, no observed effect on mild symptoms.

The effect of CBD on patients with mild symptoms deserves more attention, and eliminating the stigma and dispelling the myths associated with hemp is surely a daunting task. However, studies such as the above-mentioned go a long way in those efforts.

Low-dose CBD & the Entourage Effect

Secondly, another study regarding CBD was recently conducted by pharmacologists at the University of Sydney, and concerned the therapeutic effect of a full-spectrum of cannabinoids at relatively low doses. The results here were also positive and strengthen the evidence for the wellness potential of the 'pharmacokinetic entourage effect'

The entourage hypothesis holds that cannabis constituents interact to engender greater effects but there is little scientific evidence to support such an assertion. Our study shows that different cannabinoids interact to alter plasma levels of cannabinoids themselves due to what we call a ‘pharmacokinetic entourage’ effect.

As you can see from the above quote, with more and more research and information, we're really beginning to understand the incredible possibilities of the CBD compound as well as other beneficial cannabinoids.

Reasons for Cannabidiol Use: A Cross Sectional Study

Thirdly, many newcomers to CBD self-care may be wondering about the reasons that folks use hemp-derived products in their daily routines. This question was recently taken up by researchers in Denmark and the UK, with their conclusions further strengthening the argument for CBD implementation across various issues: "This survey indicated that CBD users take the drug to manage self-perceived anxiety, stress, sleep, and other symptoms, often in low doses, and these patterns vary by demographic characteristics."

Of course, further research is certainly required, but we can look at the above-mentioned study as substantial evidence of CBD's emergence as a widely-used alternative wellness aid.

OraBliss CBD & Natural Dental Health & Wellness

Finally, as we've explained previously in our blog series, there are many advantages to choosing CBD-infused products such our OraBliss toothpaste & mouthwash. Even dental professionals and industry experts (such as Kevin Harrington of Shark Tank) agree! The oral health and wellness potential of such products, although still being fully explored, is tremendous especially compared to the questionable effects of mainstream dental care brands.
